Cloud Computing – Anything as a Service

August 23, 2012

Hosted Cloud Services

Daily – we are breaking cloud barriers and learning new ways to offer services to our customers. This is mostly driven by our customer’s themselves asking for countless applications and services be migrated to the cloud.

As mentioned in sneak peek, we now have over 300+ applications that operate in our cloud environment, from HR, CRM, Sales, Accounting and Billing applications to Construction Management, Insurance Quoting and Event Management software.

Although this is not what I am taking about today – I am referring to various platform functions the cloud can perform. By now I am sure you have heard of;

  • SaaS (software as a service)
  • PaaS (platform as a service)
  • IaaS (infrastructure as a service)

However, we are regularly finding more uses for the cloud on a monthly, if not weekly basis. We are finding that the cloud can also perform;

  • Maas (monitoring as a service) and (migration as a service)
  • CaaS (communications as a service)
  • XaaS (anything as a service)

As we push the boundaries and find new and surprising ways to use the cloud we are also realizing that our imagination is our only limit. Fortunately the phone rings once or twice a week with someone looking to put a new custom app or service in the cloud. Our job is figuring out how to make that happen without compromising the cloud’s security and infrastructure itself.

There has been instances where we had to say no, mainly because of security concerns. But we are finding that is the exception, not the rule.

So what’s next? That is a tough question. As customers and providers understand their current cloud use, they soon realize there are more services they would like to add.

What cloud services would you like to see?

If you would like, we provide a Free Technical Assessment, this can be beneficial to new and startup companies that are not sure where to start. You can always find our cloud and hosted services in the right column of this page or by simply going to our website at Raven Cloud Computing.
